Lightning Safety

Don’t take chances when outdoors, especially when lightning is involved. Sunday marked the beginning of Lightning Safety Week 2010. From June 20 to June 26, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is emphasizing awareness of the threat lightning can pose.

Go to the Lightning Safety Week site for tips on staying safe indoors and out, medical facts, lightning history, survivor stories and more. There have been eight lightning deaths so far in 2010. Learn from those tragic deaths by not taking any risks.

  1. Luckly, I live about an hour from Seattle, so we rarely get lightning storms.

    I was in a lightning storm at camp alone in a tent on a open granite area not knowing that everyone had left the area. 1hr. 45mins. crazy scary.
