The Great White Whale

Meet Migaloo, the world’s only known white humpback whale. The little-seen creature lives off the Queensland coast in Australia. Each year whale watching enthusiasts gather to capture footage of the mammal as itΒ  journeys from Antarctarica to Australia and back. The whale’s name is an Aboriginal word meaning “white fella,” and he’s protected under Australian law.

Despite the popularity of the whale, very few images of Migaloo have been seen … until now.

Check out a few photos of Migaloo from a group of tourists, snapping the photos earlier this year.

  1. Wow! That must have been amazing for the people who thought they were just going on an average whale-watching trip. Wish I could have been there!

  2. “Whoa! Whoahoahoahoahoaho!” (in an Australian accent) And really? Who puts “the end” at the end of a YouTube video? Peechtival!
