Pirate Blackbeard’s 1718 Ship Recovered

After spending the last 300 years submerged off the coast of North Carolina, five cannons from the Queen Anne’s Revenge (the sunken ship of Edward Teach a.k.a. Blackbeard) were recently recovered by scientists.

Each of the cast-iron cannons weighs about 2,000 pounds and could fire six-pound cannonballs up to two miles.

In total, 20 cannons have been salvaged from the ship.
