On This Date

It’s certainly not what you’re used to watching on TV nowadays, but on December 27, 1947 “Howdy Doody,” one of the first television shows for kids, premiered on NBC.  This hourlong favorite featured a variety of activities, songs and stories, and allowed children in the audience to participate. “Howdy Doody,” a red-headed wooden puppet, hosted the show along with memorable characters like, Inspector John J. Fadoozle, Flub-a-dub, Dilly Dally and many more.
