Koala Cheats Death

In an accident that could have easily left him as roadkill, a koala was hit by a car at 60 miles per hour and dragged for seven miles. Named Ely “Lucky” Grills by rescuers, the eight-year-old koala walked away from the accident virtually unscathed.

On a road near Brisbane, Australia, Lucky was saved when another motorist flagged down the car that hit the male koala. Household scissors were used to cut Lucky free from the car’s grille.

While Lucky was better after a couple hours rest, he will remain in the hospital for 45 days to recover from the experience.
