8 Best Moments From the New Star Wars Trailer

The newest trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released during the Star Wars Celebration Anaheim. As the most anticipated movie of 2015, Star Wars needed to impress with the trailer.

It did. Not only does the new trailer show some familiar faces from past Star Wars movies, it also better introduces us to the new cast members. See the trailer for yourself above.

As you can see, it’s jam-packed with incredible action and memorable images. Here are my favorite moments from the trailer:

Crashed Star Destroyer

The first image we see is the remains of a downed Star Destroyer. It’s an epic, striking image. It’s also an unfamiliar sight to Star Wars fans. After all, Star Destroyers are supposed to be flying around space.

R2-D2 and A Mystery Hand

Screen Shot 2015-04-16 at 2.13.37 PM

Who is that mysterious cloaked figure? My guess? Luke Skywalker. You can see the artificial hand touching R2-D2, and based on the kindness in that embrace, I’d bet this is Luke catching up with his old droid buddy.

Darth Vader’s Helmet

Screen Shot 2015-04-16 at 2.13.24 PM

That’s right, Darth Vader is back. At least his burned, charred helmet is. As you know, Vader/Anakin’s body was burned at the end of Episode VI. This image shows what was left of his iconic helmet. The real question is why are we seeing it, and what role does it play in the movie.

A Chrome Stormtrooper

Screen Shot 2015-04-16 at 2.17.37 PM

This is one imposing figure. Is it a Stormtrooper? What’s with the cape? Isn’t that the Death Star in the background? This looks like it could be one of the main villains. Speaking of…

Meet Kylo Ren

Screen Shot 2015-04-16 at 2.16.12 PM

We still know very little about the plot of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. One of things we do know is that Kylo Ren, the mysterious figure above, plays a major villain in the movie. This is the first time we’ve seen his face, and what a face it is. His mask is dark, sleek and really spooky. Also, it’s probably fair to think that he’s responsible for the fire and chaos all around him.

The New Empire?

Screen Shot 2015-04-16 at 2.16.20 PM

This may be the most mysterious shot of the entire trailer. We see a fleet of Stormtroopers gathering at some sort of meeting of evildoers. Based on the red banner in the background, I’d say this is an all-new empire. Who’s leading this empire? A new Emperor? Kylo Ren? Vader?

Millennium Falcon Chase

Screen Shot 2015-04-16 at 2.18.20 PM

The same crashed Star Destroyer from the first shot of the trailer can be seen here as the Millennium Falcon flees from a Tie Fighter. It looks like the Falcon hasn’t lost it’s incredible speed and maneuverability, because it weaves and winds through the carcass of the Destroyer like a champ. That may be because …

Han Solo is Back!

Screen Shot 2015-04-16 at 2.19.04 PM

That’s right, Han and Chewbacca are back. Han may look a little older, but he’s got the same wit and personality. Looks like they’re entering the Millennium Falcon for the first time in a while. Think he’s the one flying it through the downed Star Destroyer?

What do you think of the trailer? What’s your favorite part? Sound off in the comments section.

  1. My favorite part is definitely the crashed destroyer and Darth Vader’s helmet! Can’t wait to see it!

  2. I saw this yesterday and i Thought COOOOOOOL! With J.J. Abrams directing this I think we’re in good hands.

  3. i am a lifelong starwars fan and i know the trailer looks cool and all but if J.J. Abrams messes it up epically i will not be happy. but if it is good i will be the first to congradulate him

  4. It looks okay. I’m super upset that they’re undoing all of the star wars books that have existed for years though! those all flowed together perfectly, thanks to George Lucas overseeing them. Why do they have to disregard all of that?

  5. These pics are awesome. But have you noticed Luke Skywalker’s face hasn’t came out in any poster, but his actor name, Mark Hammill has come out on the the posters.
