Soap Box Scouts

Five years ago, the Minsi Trails Council received a donated All-American Soap Box Derby car kit. Each year since, Webelos Scouts from Pack 99 have been racing in the Soap Box Derby in Easton, Pa. Scouts are selected based on their grades, behavior and Webelos advancements.

The race was held this year on the third Sunday in June on Easton’s Northampton Street. The winner of the race would advance to the national competition in Akron, Ohio, and the Scouts from Pack 99 came oh-so-close.

Four fourth grade Webelos from Cleveland Elementary School raced. Daniel Coult finished second in the Stock Division. In the Super Stock Division, Ethan Sistrunk finished fourth, James Eggleston eighth. Lance Benton also participated.
