Blue Town

A small Spanish village called Juzcar was transformed early last summer when it was chosen as the set for “The Smurfs 3D.”
All of the town’s buildings and houses were painted a deep blue, to represent the famous Smurf Village. After filming was complete, the town was going to repaint its buildings white, but plans changed.

Because the hillside village has become such a spectacular tourist attraction, the town’s residents have voted to keep their town as is. The mayor of Juzcar, David Fernandez Tirado, has even earned the nickname “Papa Smurf.”
