New ‘Harry Potter’ Movie In The Works

Harry Potter is back!

Well, not exactly. Author J.K. Rowling recently announced that she will be writing the screenplay for an all new movie franchise, set in the world of wizards.

The movies will be based on the Hogwarts School textbook, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, focusing on the book’s fictitious author, Newt Scamander.

While details are still foggy, it doesn’t look like Harry Potter and friends will be showing up in the new movies.

“Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for 17 years, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world,” said Rowling, in a statement.  “The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films, but Newt’s story will start in New York, 70 years before Harry’s gets underway.”

Still though, sounds like a cool idea. What do you think?

  1. This just another way for Rowling to make money if she was a good person she would not do this. She pratically wrote the first chapter of harry potter on a napkin. She was given a chance and she needs to be thankful for it.
