Just last week we posted an awesome record field goal kick, today it’s a punt.
Lake Wales may have lost their game against Winter Haven on Oct. 23, but the night’s biggest play went to Lake Wales punter Tate Mathewson. The senior punter managed a bad snap, and then booted the ball 96 yards before it rolled out of bounds at the 3 yard line. The ball travels 60 yards in the air, and rolls an astounding 37 yards on the ground.
To give some perspective on the lengthy kick, the NFL record for longest punt is Longest punt: 98 yards by Steve O’Neal in 1969.
Tate hopes to continue playing football in college. With a leg like that, we’re sure he’s got a chance.
