Ginny is the world’s first coal-mine rescue dog. The 4-year-old Dutch Shepherd assists in search-and-rescue missions by locating injured and trapped miners in places that are too dangerous for humans.

Ginny searches large areas fast, using her hypersensitive sense of smell, extreme agility and extensive training. Underground, Ginny wears an infrared camera on her back that sends live video directly to her handler, a military-grade vest that keeps her safe from sharp objects and a gas monitor that sounds if she enters dangerous air space. The instant Ginny scents a trapped miner, she sends a series of bark alerts until human help arrives.
