LEGO Stadium

Two years, 1,000 hours and one million LEGO blocks—that’s what it took Paul Janssen to create a “near-exact” 8-foot-by-6-foot replica of Ohio Stadium, home of the Ohio State Buckeye football team.

The model of the famous horseshoe-shaped stadium is about 1/100 in scale. Janssen began planning the model in 2005 when the university hired him as a professor.

Janssen, having grown up in the Netherlands, didn’t understand American football at first. But he began studying stadium measurements and satellite images. During football games, he would snap photos of the press box or other areas. Somewhere along the way he became a true fan and built the model masterpiece.

Janssen estimates he spent between $50,000 and $75,000 on the project.
