Jeepers Creepers, Look at this Peeper! (Updated)

This one qualifies as the weirdest story of the week.

A few days ago, while walking along the beach in Florida, a man found something truly unusual, a softball-sized eyeball siting on the sand. There was no clue as to how it got there.

He took the massive blue eye to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, who is currently trying to identify the eyeball. The eye is among the largest ever found and the best guess, at the moment, is that it belongs to a giant unknown whale or squid, but for now it’s a mystery. We will keep you updated, and let you know once the commission discovers the eyeball’s origin.

In the meantime, what sort of creature do you think that it belongs to?

UPDATE

Sorry to all you hoping that this would turn out to be some sort of newly discovered sea monster, but experts have determined that the eyeball is simply that of a massive swordfish. So much for our hope of an American Loch Ness monster!
