  1. Have read, more than once, all of the Harry Potter books, and have greatly awaited this book. Without giving anything away, this is the best book in the series. My favorite thus far had been “The Prisoner of Azkaban,” but “The Deathly Hallows” blows it away. I could not put the book down for the last 200+ pages. Rowling has written a book with enough twists and turns to satisfy virtually any but the most cynical or looking to be critical reader. To quote the writer Laura Hillenbrand quoted near the end of her wonderful book “Seabiscuit”, “Oh, that I lived to see this day.” Buy the book, clear your calendar, have a couple of snacks at hand, sit down, and be transported.

  2. when i got it my sister was getting my other harry potter book to read out of the car, which was the order of the phoenix, but then she found the new one, the deathly hallows. we found it at around 9 or 10 A.M. but our mom finally gave in and told us that she got it early in the morning.and that was arund 7 P.M.

  3. I think J.K. Rowling shouldn’t stop writing because she changed the ending so that there could be more stories after it.

  4. Reading it, and it is good and intruiging. Please don’t reveil anything big for the other readers. Thanks.

  5. I just got the book as a surprise from my parents today. So far I am on chapter 5 and the books is pretty good. It was a little slow at first but great once u hit the second chapter.

  6. in this book, too many people die. i’m only on chapter 11 and 2 people and 1 animal have died!! other than that there’s alot of action in chapters 4 and 9. wonder what other people think?

  7. Was very happy to receive this last book, am 73 and was afraid i wouldn’t survive to the finish. So pleased thank you.

  8. I take that back. It’s actually very fast-moving; it’s just that J. K. Rowling, in my opinion, is a little too wordy. We all just want to know who dies, does Voldemort win, etc. We also want to know how it happens. I could get the same ideas across and tell the story almost as well in under 300 pages.

PS When I say I want to know what happens, I don’t mean that I want someone to post a comment and spoil the book for me.

  9. I loved the seventh Harry Potter book. I always wondered about Harry’s father and his side of the family and was glad to get some answers on that score in the last book. This book was also good because it kept moving. I didn’t feel like it was dragging along. I don’t want to give anything away for those reading these comment that haven’t finished the book so I won’t go into detail, but for me, I wish J.K. Rowling will go on and make a few more related books. Spin offs, if you will, about some of the older AND newer characters at the end of the book. I just don’t want it to end completely, you know?

  10. i got the book last night at about 10 and im now on page 160. it is really good so far and its been really hard to put down so yeah..its great

  11. I absolutely LOVED the book. I was sad about the characters who died, but as the saying goes… “art imitating life”… people die in real life that we don’t want to die. I think that Ms. Rowling ended the book the only way she could have, and it was brilliant!

  12. The book was amazing. I won’t give anything away, but if you don’t have a copy yet, go get one! I stayed up until 2:00am on Saturday to complete it – I couldn’t put it down! The end is satisfactory and it was filled with suspense until the very last “all was well”.

  13. I waited to get the final book and I finished it in about 5 hours. Throughout the whole thing i was crying like a baby! So much of it was sad, but it was still a fabulous book.

  14. If it were acceptable in society today, I would give JK Rowling my firstborn as a “thank you” for writing The Deathly Hallows. Sadly, it isn’t, but she did such a spectacular job with wrapping up the saga satisfactorily that it should be. The Epilogue was a bit cheesy, but the battle was my favorite of all the battles I’ve seen in movies, read about, learned about, heard about… it was an AMAZING book. And the Kroger release party was pretty sweet too.

  15. I really thought it was the worst book in the world!!! There is no point at all to it. If you have not aready bought it. DO NOT BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. Kristina: I also think it’d be great if she kept writing stories about it, kind of like a “Harry Potter, the next generation” thing; but look at it this way: You’ve just finished writing all seven of the Harry Potter books. You’re filthy rich, the only one richer in England than you is the Queen. You have enough money to easily be set for life and you can buy practically anything you want. Would you want to keep straining to write books for money that you would probably never use? I know if I was J.K. Rowling I sure wouldn’t.

Fangirl: How did you finish it in only five hours? It took ME more than fifteen hours! You must read very fast.

Bhg123: How could you NOT like this book? This book was awesome! I can hardly begin to say what a great book this is! (ok, maybe that was an exageration, but it was still really cool!)

As for what I thought, it was great! What was worrying me was that she would end it bad. If anyone has ever read the “Gregor the overlander” series, well, I really like the story but the ending was HORRIBLE!!! Harry Potter was not like that. The ending was fantastic! Anyone who doesn’t read Harry Potter or for some reason is one of those “Harry haters” I advise at least start to read it, cuz chances are you’re gonna like it.

  17. This was too dark and far too oppressive – she has finally sunk below the pits and depths now.. no turning back

  18. I think this book was very good. It had a few funny parts. All the parts were connected, so you had to remember a lot about it. The end, however, was slightly confusing.

  19. I am glad that Severus Snape was not an evil self centered brat like I belived him to be by the end of the 6th book. I kind of still don’t get how Draco ever became the master of the elder wand since he didn’t kill Dumbledore. Maybe I will read over that part.

  20. i finished the book on sunday everything you need to know about the book is…………………..it was written by J.K. Rowling

  21. As that girl in New York said, very sad. But, it had its moments. A LOT of moments. And the ending… whoo. Read it and you’ll see what I mean.

  22. Oops on my last comment I meant to say Maybe I was wrong about her NOT being richer then the queen.
