Cliff-Side Rescue

After a springer spaniel took a tumble into a ravine, a sheriff’s deputy rappelled into the canyon to bring the pup back to safety.

“Doc,” the springer spaniel, was training last week to become a hunting dog when he fell over a cliff in Colorado’s Lake Pueblo State Park. He landed on a ledge 80 feet down into a 200-foot ravine.

It was too dark to rescue Doc on Thursday, so authorities lowered blankets to keep the dog warm overnight. First thing Friday morning, Master Deputy Dylan Jacketta rappelled down and rescued the dog.
