You’ve all seen the movie-version of meteors colliding with Earth, but have you ever really thought about just how frequently the Earth experiences meteor strikes? It’s surprisingly often.

A new, and particularly awesome, interactive animated website has been created to illustrate every meteor strike in the history of the Earth. Pretty cool, right?

The site was compiled using data from the Meteorological Society. The graph begins in 861 in Nogata, Japan and spans up until this year’s widely meteor sightings in Russia.

You can check out the visualization here.
